After former President Donald J. Trump asked a judge to throw out most of the 13 charges against him in Georgia’s election interference indictment, The New York Times turned to Knowles Gallant Partner Chris Timmons to analyze the motion and offer insight.
Timmons, a former prosecutor and highly experienced trial attorney, said the motion was unlikely to succeed in court and he described the racketeering enterprise defined in the indictment as “pretty tightly drawn.” He offered that defense lawyers sometimes file motions directed more toward the court of opinion, with an eye toward influencing a potential jury pool, as one reason for the flurry of activity.
