The Georgia Court of Appeals has canceled oral arguments in President-elect Donald Trump’s attempt to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from prosecuting his racketeering case. The hearing, originally scheduled for Dec. 5, 2024, has been postponed until further notice, leaving the next steps uncertain.
Trump and eight co-defendants had sought to remove Willis from the case, citing alleged conflicts of interest involving her and special prosecutor Nathan Wade. The delay fuels speculation about how Trump’s re-election campaign could intersect with his legal challenges.
Partner Chris Timmons spoke with The Denver Gazette, offering insights into the implications of the postponement.
“The trial court should be able to sever the other defendants from Trump and proceed to trial,” Timmons explained.
Trump faces four criminal cases, including charges for allegedly attempting to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results. While four co-defendants have taken plea deals, Trump and others have pleaded not guilty.
