For the latest insight in Georgia, Inside Politics with Dana Bash turned to Knowles Gallant Partner Chris Timmons, a highly experienced trial attorney and former prosecutor. Timmons spoke about the severance of former President Trump’s case, along with 16 other co-defendants, from the trials of Kenneth Cheseboro and Sidney Powell.
“You have two going first,” Timmons told Bash. “I was surprised by that because what that means is the judge is probably looking at around two years of trial, though he really wants to do jury selection quickly if he can.”
Timmons added that the trial of Cheseboro and Powell will be telling as many await the historic trial of a former president. “I really think that what we’re going to see is a preview of the Trump trial. Probably 80% of the evidence is going to overlap,” said Timmons. “I have tried a number of RICO cases,” he noted. “Whether it’s severed or not, the trial strategy is going
to be the same. I don’t think you’re going to hide any of the cards if you’re the state. You’re going to go for the win.”
