Partner Chris Timmons represents a group of Division I college basketball players who secured an interlocutory injunction against the NCAA, allowing them to compete during the 2026-27 season while their legal challenge moves forward.
The Cobb County Superior Court granted the players’ request for injunctive relief, finding, among other things, that the plaintiffs are likely to prevail on their breach of contract claim and would face irreparable harm if denied the opportunity to compete this season. The court also found that the NCAA’s application of its eligibility bylaws to the plaintiffs violated its contractual obligations to the athletes.
The order prevents the NCAA from enforcing its four-season competition limit to bar the plaintiffs from Division I basketball during the 2026-27 season and from penalizing schools or coaches for rostering them while the case proceeds toward trial.
